About The Festival

ADMISSION CHARGE:  Adults £3,  Concessions £2

Children under 16 are free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Profits will be put towards the Shaping the Future Fund.

Refreshments will be provided in the Parish Centre where, as an added attraction, children’s activities will also be arranged.

The Church will be open for the Festival between 11am and 7pm on all three days. We expect to have the building filled with about 70 Christmas trees, all with fairy lights and decorated by individual sponsors,  The Church will be darkened except for the light from the trees and the effect will be breathtaking!

In addition, we will have four ‘Parish’ trees illustrating baptisms, weddings, funerals and prayer. Information leaflets will be available to take away.

Musical entertainment will be playing inside the building throughout the periods when the Festival is taking place to enhance the atmosphere within the Church. This will be provided by small groups, or individuals, performing mostly for about half hour periods. In addition, on the Saturday evening at 7.30 pm there will be a Gosport Solent Brass Christmas Concert - all that brass and all those Christmas trees all at once – bliss!

For details of the musical entertainment on each day, please click Here.

There will be room for people to sit alongside the trees during the Services, also a prayer will be said from the pulpit every hour when the Church is open for the Festival.

The Church will be suitably decorated by the ladies of our St Mary’s Alverstoke Flower Guild and the outside areas will also be decorated with lights and possibly more trees.

The aim of the Christmas Tree Festival is to bring our community together in a shared enterprise and to invite both them, also any visitors, into our beautiful church so that they can enjoy with us those things that we hold dear at this important time of the Christian year.

So, please come along, it is TERRIFIC and children ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!

If anyone reading this would like to help with the million things to be done for the Festival please let Sue Simpson know in the Parish Office (02392 580551) - we need all the help we can get!

Also, if you would like to provide some of the musical entertainment, or if you know of someone who would like to do so, please click here for more details.
