Following the extremely successful and popular Christmas Tree Festivals of the last two years, this years Christmas Tree Festival will take place in St Mary’s, Alverstoke over 3 days starting with carols in the village centre at 6:15pm on Thursday 8th December.

The carols will be led by the Viva Voce choir and EVERYONE is welcome to come along and join in. There will then be a procession to the church where our visitors will be met by the most WONDERFUL sight of the church filled with over 70 Christmas Trees, all them decorated with fairy lights in an otherwise completely darkened church – it is BREATHTAKING!! There will also be mulled wine and mince pies in the church!

Both the Bishop of Portsmouth and the Mayor of Gosport will attend the carols and the opening on the Thursday evening and they will judge the trees in the following two categories for: “WOW Factor” and “Most Original!!

Musical entertainment will enormously enhance the atmosphere within the Church during the Festival with music playing inside the building throughout the periods when the Festival is taking place; this will be provided by small groups, or individuals, performing mostly for about half hour periods. For details of the musical entertainment on each day, please click Here.

The aim of the Christmas Tree Festival is to bring our community together in a shared enterprise and to invite both them, also any visitors, into our beautiful church so that they can enjoy with us those things that we hold dear at this important time of the Christian year.

This will be a real community celebration with any profits we make going to the Shaping the Future Fund.

So, please come along, it is TERRIFIC and children ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!

If anyone reading this would like to help with the million things to be done for the Festival please let Sue Simpson know in the Parish Office (02392 580551) - we need all the help we can get!

Also, if you would like to provide some of the musical entertainment, or if you know of someone who would like to do so, please click here for more details.
