WELCOME TO ST MARY’S

PARISH CENTRE:

 

 

The Centre comprises:

  • a large hall with a seating capacity of 120.

  • a smaller lounge which accommodates approximately 15 people.

  • a recently refurbished kitchen.

  • toilets for the disabled and baby-changing facilities.

  • an attractive fenced-in garden.

  • the Parish Centre is not licensed for the sale of alcohol but it can be consumed on the premises.

  • please consider the neighbours during your hiring and as you leave.

You will be asked to complete an application form (which has letting conditions on the reverse) with details of:

  • Date

  • Organisation name

  • Applicant’s name

  • Address

  • Telephone

  • Purpose for hire

  • Starting/finishing times

  • Name of caterers if applicable

 

FACILITIES AVAILABLE:

  • Tables and chairs to seat 120. Round table tops (each seats 8/10). Tressle tables (shed key required for these)

  • VCR (please ask)

  • Flipchart and pens (please ask)

  • OHP (please ask)

  • There is a static screen in the hall.

...AND FOR CATERING PURPOSES:

  • Crockery/cutlery for 120

  • 60 wine glasses

  • Jugs, tea pots, salt and pepper etc

  • Small table cloths (please leave clean)

  • Cooker (please ask for brief instructions if required).

  • Wall mounted water heater for coffee/tea making. Please do not turn off after use. (It is on when the green light is showing).

but you will need to bring:

  • Tea towels

  • Cooking utensils/sharp knives.

  • Refuse bags; do not use the BIFFA bin for food waste or over fill it and please take bottles away as we do not have a recycling bin..

 


ON THE DAY OF HIRING:

  • Collect the key(s) from the Parish Office during the morning of the day of hire or the Friday before for a weekend booking.

  • Pay by cheque, St Mary’s PCMC, or cash

  • Please ensure you are given an alarm security code.

  • The tables and chairs are kept in the store room (positioned off the large hall) - please return these after use. Crockery etc is kept in the cupboards in the kitchen and under the serving hatch. Please wash all used crockery and utensils and leave the parish centre clean and tidy. There are brooms in the boiler room by the back door in the kitchen.

  • The heating is controlled by the central heating clock in the boiler cupboard. If the heating is already on you will see a red light on the clock to your right in the boiler cupboard; if you need to turn the heating on please press the red button as clearly indicated. This will provide two hours of heat. Please press it again if you require a longer period. There is no need to switch the heating off.

  • It is important that you leave the hall/kitchen clean and tidy for the next hiring. All doors and windows must be closed and locked. All lights must be turned off.

  • Please post the key(s) through the Parish Centre door at the end of the letting period.

 

 

PROBLEMS?

  • In the event of a problem with lighting/electricity supply, there is a circuit board in the store room in a cupboard (as you walk in to the right). This is well labelled and you will find the relevant switches.

  • Spare toilet tissue/hand towels/light bulbs are available from the store cupboard in the kitchen.

  • There is a First Aid kit on the window ledge by the serving hatch.

  • Emergency exits are clearly marked and must not be obstructed. Please read the notice on the wall "In the event of Fire". There are fire extinguishers at various points in the Centre and a fire blanket on the kitchen wall. NB It is the responsibility of the hirer to become familiarised with the safety and security arrangements of the Centre.

 

 

SECURITY to assist you

  • Lock the Parish Centre door if you are able to, to keep opportunist thieves from helping themselves.

  • Do not leave handbags and valuables unattended.

  • If you hang your belongings up, do not leave car keys or valuables in coat pockets.
